What We Offer
Specialty Procedures
At the Puerto Rico Hip Institute, we specialize in advanced surgical and non-surgical procedures to preserve and restore hip function. Every treatment is personalized to each patient, combining the latest techniques with evidence-based care.

Hip Arthroscopy
Hip arthroscopy is a minimally invasive procedure that uses small incisions and a camera to diagnose and treat conditions such as labral tears, femoroacetabular impingement (FAI), and cartilage injuries. This technique allows for quicker recovery, less pain, and minimal scarring compared to open surgery.
Periacetabular Osteotomy (PAO)
PAO is the gold-standard surgery for patients with hip dysplasia. The procedure repositions the hip socket (acetabulum) to better cover the femoral head, improve joint stability, and delay or prevent arthritis progression.

Surgical Hip Dislocation
For complex hip deformities or advanced labral/cartilage repair, surgical hip dislocation provides complete access to the hip joint while preserving the blood supply to the femoral head. This approach allows precise correction of deformities and treatment of conditions not accessible through arthroscopy alone.
Non-Surgical Options

1
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Injections
PRP injections use concentrated platelets derived from the patient’s own blood to promote healing and reduce inflammation in tendons, ligaments, and joint surfaces. Ultrasound guidance ensures precise delivery to the affected hip structures.
2
Corticosteroid Injections
Corticosteroid injections are used to provide targeted relief of hip pain due to arthritis, bursitis, or tendon inflammation. Performed under ultrasound guidance, these injections can improve mobility and function while reducing discomfort.
3
Botox Injections for Hip Preservation
Botox works by temporarily relaxing overactive muscles. In the hip, certain conditions cause abnormal muscle tension or spasm, which can increase pain, worsen impingement, or place excess stress on the joint. By reducing muscle overactivity, Botox allows the hip joint to move more freely and decreases painful compression forces.
